Architecture + interior design

Architecture shaped around people.

Studio Fallon is a San Francisco–based architecture and interior design practice. We design spaces that respond to their context, support the people who use them, and bring clarity to the way we live and work.

The studio

Your next chapter starts here.

We begin by looking closely at a space, its surroundings, and the people who use it. We consider how it feels to move through, where light falls, and how it supports everyday life. These observations help us uncover its potential and develop a clear direction for the design.

Through thoughtful planning, natural light, and carefully chosen materials, we create a sense of openness and connection. A well-placed window, a view into another room, or a connection to the outdoors can change how a space is experienced. We bring that same care to the details, considering how each decision contributes to the whole.

Our process is collaborative and grounded in your priorities. We ask questions, explore possibilities, and balance design ideas with practical needs to create spaces that feel comfortable, purposeful, and a pleasure to spend time in.

Founder + Principal

Fallon James founded Studio Fallon with a belief that thoughtful architecture can reveal new possibilities in familiar spaces. Her more than 15 years of experience across residential, retail, and hospitality projects inform an approach that brings architecture and interiors into a cohesive design.

Her work explores the relationship between space and experience. Attentive to context, natural light, and material character, she considers how each element contributes to the way a place feels and functions. She pairs a clear conceptual direction with careful planning and detail, creating spaces that feel open, connected, and grounded in their surroundings.

Fallon leads each project through a close exchange with clients, consultants, and builders.

Her process brings creative exploration and practical judgment together, translating the ambitions of a project into spaces that support and enrich everyday life.

Beyond the studio

Outside the studio, Fallon shares a lively household in San Francisco's Noe Valley with her partner, their three children, and their husky.

Weekends often revolve around soccer sidelines, neighborhood outings, and family adventures, with the occasional national park trip in the mix.

She's an enthusiastic participant in her children's school communities and a firm believer in gathering people around a table. With three children and a husky, her own home is a daily testing ground for good design. And nothing tests a floor plan quite like the morning rush.

Our approach

01

Finding possibility

We look beyond the existing layout to imagine what a space could become. By questioning assumptions about how rooms are organized and connected, we uncover opportunities for greater openness, flexibility, and use.

02

Designing from experience

We imagine a space from within. How you enter, what draws you through, where you gather, and where you find privacy all inform the design. The way a place feels begins with how it supports the people using it.

03

Working with place

Every project begins with something particular: an existing structure, a landscape, a neighborhood, or a view. We use those qualities to give the design direction, creating a dialogue between what is already there and what comes next.

04

Shaping with light

We consider natural light from the earliest stages of planning. Openings, orientation, and connections between rooms allow light to reach farther into a space, bringing depth and a changing atmosphere throughout the day.

05

Giving materials purpose

We choose materials for their texture, character, durability, and the way they age. From broad surfaces to the details you touch, each selection contributes to a consistent design that feels good to use and holds up to everyday life.

06

Bringing ideas to life

We work closely with clients, consultants, and builders to carry a clear design vision through construction. Open dialogue and careful coordination connect the larger idea to the details that make it work.
